Associate - Insurance (Statutory Classes) - Sydney

The role

A Lawyer with a minimum of 3+ years of practicing experience in common law personal injury claims is sought to join the Insurance legal group. This role will focus on advising and defending employers and insurers in work injury damages and industrial common law claims, working closely with Partner Joanna Apostolopoulos.

What you'll do

• Advise and defend employers and insurers in work injury damages and industrial common law claims
• Manage personal injury matters involving issues of employer’s liability and claims arising pursuant to the Civil Liability Act, 2002 (NSW)
• Provide high quality legal advice and representation to a wide variety of clients, including insurers, self-insured employers, specialised insurers and regulators
• Engage in advocacy and manage litigation in the Supreme Court, District Court, and Personal Injury Commission
• Work with insurers and corporate clients on personal injury matters
• Collaborate closely with Partners in a strong team environment
• Advise top-tier clients on liability, strategy and risk management
• Manage personal injury claims and statutory indemnity claims requiring the application of the Civil Liability Act
• Perform analysis and advisory work, including indemnity, liability and quantum assessments
• Draft court documents and contribute to litigation strategy
• Engage in advocacy across multiple jurisdictions, including mediations and interlocutory matters
• Negotiate commercial outcomes for clients
