Procurement Lawyer – Associate 1 – 5 PQE, Leeds, Manchester or Scotland

The role

We are seeking an advisory (non-contentious) lawyer with approximately 1-5 years of PQE to join our public procurement team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value procurement matters, gain increasing responsibility, and enhance professional reputation within a supportive environment.

What you'll do

• Advise public authorities, utilities and their contracting partners on a broad range of procurement matters, with appropriate supervision, including direct awards, contract modifications and procurement strategy
• Draft and review procurement documentation, including notices, selection questionnaires, invitations to tender and related contractual documentation
• Support clients in the design and delivery of procurement processes, helping to identify and resolve legal and commercial issues as they arise
• Assist bidders throughout procurement exercises, providing practical advice on tender submissions and responding to procurement-related queries
• Work alongside colleagues in our disputes team to support procurement challenges, including assisting with the assessment of claims and the preparation of key documents
• Contribute procurement expertise to multi-disciplinary projects led by colleagues across our IT, outsourcing, transport, utilities, construction, real estate and defence practices
• Build strong client relationships through day-to-day matters and contribute to business development activities appropriate to your level of experience, including client updates, articles, training and networking opportunities
• Take ownership of your own development, building technical expertise and increasing responsibility as your experience grows
