The role
Arnold & Porter is seeking a mid-level associate for its Government Contracts & National Security Practice Group in Washington, D.C. The role is for an attorney with a minimum of three years of prior legal experience in the field, with a focus on complex litigation, investigations, and transactional work involving government contractors.
What you'll do
- Litigating multi-billion dollar, complex contract award challenges
- Handling the negotiation of novel agreements with the government
- Advising recipients and subrecipients of grants in the interpretation of grant requirements and compliance
- Advising on federal audits, enforcement actions, and other controversies with awarding agencies
- Involved in all aspects of the practice, including litigation and investigations
- Conducting due diligence, drafting asset and stock purchase agreements, and novations
What we're looking for
Minimum of three years of prior legal experience in the field of government contracts law
Demonstrated interest in government contracts law
Strong research, writing and analytic skills
Ability to work independently and creatively
Ability to work successfully as part of a team
Excellent academic credentials and references
Currently licensed, or eligible to become licensed, to practice law in Washington, D.C.
Experience as a judicial clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or the Court of Federal Claims· nice to have
Academic training in government contracts law· nice to have
Interest in and working knowledge of work related to mergers, acquisitions, and other types of transactions involving government contractors· nice to have
Experience with due diligence, asset and stock purchase agreements, and novations· nice to have
Benefits
Salary range of $260,000 to $365,000 commensurate with experience
Eligibility for an hours-based bonus
