The role
Munger, Tolles & Olson is seeking a Patent Litigation Attorney with 1-3 years of PQE to join their IP Litigation practice in San Francisco. The role will involve handling significant patent infringement matters and related work for a variety of clients.
What you'll do
- Handle patent infringement litigation in district court
- Engage in Federal Circuit appeals
- Participate in PTAB proceedings
- Work on tech transactions
- Handle patent-adjacent work such as antitrust and trade secret cases
- Be involved in overall strategizing
- Assist with briefing
- Conduct depositions
- Participate in trial
- Engage in considerable client contact
- Travel as necessary for client matters
What we're looking for
1-3 years of experience in patent litigation
Outstanding academic achievement, including law school record, references, and proven litigation and writing skills
Strong understanding of the patent laws
Experience with patent infringement litigation, Federal Circuit appeals, PTAB proceedings, tech transactions, and patent-adjacent work
Admission to CA Bar is preferred but not required initially
Patent Office registration is a plus but not necessary
A technical degree or work experience is preferred
Ability to work at least 2,000 hours per year on client matters

2026 Annual Salary: $225,000
