The role

WilmerHale seeks an Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of post-JD experience in patent prosecution and IP litigation. This role is for attorneys interested in working on cutting-edge patent matters within the firm's IP practice, supporting partners and associates across various offices.

What you'll do

Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
Develop and manage strategic IP portfolios for clients
Provide mentorship and training to junior associates
Conduct pre-litigation diligence
Draft pleadings
Conduct legal research
Prepare expert witnesses

What we're looking for

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering required

2-4 years of post-JD experience in both patent prosecution and IP litigation

Admission to practice before the USPTO

Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based (MA, NY, CA or DC)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Graduate Degree or industry experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering· nice to have

Experience with post-grant proceedings, such as inter partes reviews and post-grant reviews· nice to have

Experience in taking and defending depositions· nice to have
