The role
Cooley's Cyber/Data/Privacy practice group seeks an associate with four to seven years of experience in cyber/data/privacy compliance to join their team in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC. This role will advise a diverse range of clients on compliance, corporate transactions, and incident response.
What you'll do
- Advise clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
- Conduct information security and privacy due diligence for corporate transactions
- Draft data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions
- Handle data breach response and incident response planning
- Work on privacy and cybersecurity aspects of corporate and technology transactions
- Engage in state and federal investigations
- Participate in litigation related to cyber/data/privacy matters
What we're looking for
Four to seven years of experience advising clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
Experience in either a private law firm or in-house position
Experience with CCPA, CPRA, GDPR and other privacy law compliance
Experience with information security and privacy due diligence for corporate transactions
Experience with data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions
Experience with data breach response and incident response planning
High level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school
Ability to engage directly with clients
Ability to lead significant projects
Very strong analytical skills
Very strong writing skills
