The role
Cooley is seeking an experienced Cyber/Data/Privacy associate to join its expanding practice group in its New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC offices. The role is for lawyers with four to seven years of PQE advising clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance, including CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, and information security due diligence.
What you'll do
- Advise clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
- Conduct information security and privacy due diligence for corporate transactions
- Draft data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions
- Respond to data breaches and assist with incident response planning
- Counsel clients on privacy and cybersecurity aspects of corporate and technology transactions
- Manage privacy and cybersecurity incident preparedness and response
- Handle state and federal investigations
- Engage in litigation related to privacy and cybersecurity
What we're looking for
Four to seven years of experience advising clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
Experience in a private law firm or in-house position
Experience with CCPA, CPRA, GDPR and other privacy law compliance
Experience with information security and privacy due diligence for corporate transactions
Experience with data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions
Experience with data breach response and incident response planning
High level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school
Ability to engage directly with clients
Ability to lead significant projects
Very strong analytical skills
