The role
Cooley is seeking an associate with four to seven years of post-qualification experience to join its Cyber/Data/Privacy practice group in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC. The role focuses on advising clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues, including various privacy laws, data security, and transactional due diligence.
What you'll do
- Advise clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
- Advise on privacy and cybersecurity aspects of corporate and technology transactions
- Advise on incident preparedness and response
- Advise on state and federal investigations
- Advise on litigation related to privacy and cybersecurity
What we're looking for
Four to seven years of experience advising clients on cyber/data/privacy compliance issues
Experience in a private law firm or in-house position
Experience with CCPA, CPRA, GDPR and other privacy law compliance
Experience with information security and privacy due diligence for corporate transactions
Experience with data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions
Experience with data breach response and incident response planning
High level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school
Ability to engage directly with clients
Ability to lead significant projects
Very strong analytical and writing skills
