Associate - Derivatives and Structured Products at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

The role

An opportunity for an experienced Derivatives Lawyer with 2-5 years of PQE to join Freshfields' London team within the Global M&A and Capital practice group. The role focuses on derivatives and structured products, involving both transactional and advisory work for leading financial institutions and corporates.

What we're looking for

Admission as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or equivalent common law qualification

Outstanding technical and commercial experience from a leading law firm within Derivatives (ideally 2-5 years PQE)

Strong academic record at degree and LPC level

Tenacious and enthusiastic approach

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and supervise more junior lawyers

Highly effective communicator (both orally and in writing)

Ability to take on a high degree of responsibility and manage a challenging workload

Proactive involvement in business development and knowledge management

Positive role model, who will actively share knowledge and contribute to the wider team

Excellent technical skills, recognised for own expertise, and the ability to draft complex legal documents clearly and in plain English

Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of the client to deliver exceptional service whilst looking for opportunities to nurture and deepen relationships

Ability to identify, analyse and prioritise increasingly complex issues, and able to understand the impact of legal, business and market issues and analysis on technical documentation and the project

Ability to juggle a variety of demands, and to manage time, client expectations in order to meet deadlines

Ability to contribute to pitches and activities to win new work, and to develop internal and external networks, as well as building own knowledge/expertise in at least one sector

Credible, professional, able to work with a wide range of clients and people, willing to embrace change and take accountability for achieving results
