Senior Associate/Legal Director - Charities

The role

The firm is seeking an individual with a strong background in charity law and governance to join its growing charities and not-for-profit practice. This role is for someone who can handle their own caseload, support a lead partner on larger projects, and contribute to business development.

What you'll do

• Handle your own caseload
• Support the lead partner on larger projects
• Contribute to business development initiatives
• Supervise junior members of the team
• Advise charity trustees on their duties and responsibilities
• Advise on charity start-ups and registrations
• Advise charities on all types of legal structure
• Advise on constitutional reviews
• Make applications to the Commission for consent to regulated amendments
• Advise on all types of governance issues
• Undertake governance reviews
• Review and draft governance policies and procedures
• Advise on strategic issues for charities
• Advise on transactions including mergers between charities and other types of acquisition and disposal
• Advise on grant agreements and fundraising matters
• Advise on endowments and restricted funds
• Advise on the serious incident reporting regime
• Draft appropriate reports to the Charity Commission
• Support other specialists on charity related issues
• Advise on issues related to non-primary purpose trading
• Assist with all business development activities
• Assist with tender preparation
