The role
MinterEllison is seeking a Senior Associate/Special Counsel with 6+ years of PQE in indirect tax to join their market-leading Tax team in Sydney. This role will focus on managing complex GST matters, providing strategic advice, and engaging with senior clients.
What you'll do
- Manage GST audits, investigations and objections with a high degree of autonomy
- Provide complex structuring advice (particularly in property and financial services)
- Provide strategic GST guidance on cross border transactions
- Mentor and supervise junior team members
- Contribute to business development and client relationship management
- Engage directly with senior clients and stakeholders
What we're looking for
6+ years' PQE in taxation law, with a strong focus on indirect tax (GST)
Deep technical knowledge of GST legislation, case law and rulings
Proven track record of managing complex matters with minimal supervision
Experience mentoring and developing junior lawyers
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, commercial advice
Strong business development interest or experience
Experience with transaction structuring and cross-border tax issues
A collaborative, client-focused approach with sound commercial judgement
