Senior Associate – Environment, Planning and Aboriginal Heritage

The role

The firm seeks a Senior Associate to join its Perth Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) team. This role is for an experienced lawyer with a strong background in environmental law and related practice areas who can provide senior support, lead projects, and mentor junior lawyers.

What you'll do

• Provide strong and reliable senior support to the Partner
• Help mentor and grow junior lawyers
• Work extensively with other practice areas within Clayton Utz as part of the Projects team
• Work with our national ESD team
• Deliver exceptional legal services to clients
• Provide upfront strategic advice to clients navigating complex approval pathways
• Identify risks and opportunities for clients
• Engage with consultants and assessment bodies
• Partner with clients to solve problems
• Help clients attain necessary approvals
• Assist with effective implementation of projects
• Identify risk and risk management strategies in the context of significant transactions
• Provide litigious support representing clients in the State Administrative Tribunal in planning appeals
• Provide litigious support representing clients before the Appeals Convenor in relation to environmental approvals
• Provide litigious support representing clients in Court in the event of judicial review or prosecution for environmental offences
