The role
The Financial Services Regulatory practice is seeking an Associate with 2-3 years of Post-Qualified Experience to advise major Australian organizations on financial services, consumer credit, and AML/CTF regulatory matters. The role involves working on complex issues such as new product development, regulatory change, and compliance uplift within the banking, non-bank lending, and wagering sectors.
What you'll do
Advise clients on the application of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, the Corporations Act 2001, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, the ePayments Code, the Banking Code of Practice, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 and the Banking Act 1959
Work on new product and business development including drafting terms and conditions and product disclosure statements
Work on regulatory change projects
Work on remediation activities
Work on regulator engagement
Work on compliance uplift
Provide ongoing strategic advice
Support clients in regulatory disputes specifically in the area of AML/CTF
Support clients in general M&A activities
What we're looking for
At least 2-3 years PQE
Experience gained from working in a financial services regulatory practice
Experience in consumer credit and/or AML/CTF law
Passion to specialise and build a career in financial services regulatory
Desire to learn, grow, network and mentor others
Experience ideally from a leading top tier, national or international firm, or a large in-house team· nice to have
