Commercial Paralegal – Edmonton

The role

MLT Aikins is seeking a Commercial Paralegal for their Edmonton office to support lawyers in the Finance and Real Estate practice groups. This role is ideal for a candidate with practical experience in commercial transactions, focusing on document preparation and review for transactional matters.

What you'll do

• Manage all stages of commercial financing files from start to finish
• Manage all incoming and outgoing funds, including calculating and requisitioning funds for closings, mortgage financing and other requirements
• Review, prepare and file transactional documents, including transfers, mortgages, agreements, leases, subdivisions for filing at Alberta LTO, trust letters, refinancing and sale and purchase contracts
• Conduct due diligence searches (e.g. land titles, property tax, zoning, bankruptcy) and summarize results
• Organize closing schedules and manage funds for closings and mortgage financing
• Draft correspondence, prepare statements of account and statement of adjustments and handle client communications
• Produce timely reports for clients and lenders
