Trade Mark Paralegal

The role

Withers is seeking a Trade Mark Paralegal to join their IP practice in London, UK. This role will provide support to Trade Mark Attorneys and fee earners, involving direct client exposure and liaison with external agents and firms.

What you'll do

• Provide support and assistance to Trade Mark Attorneys and other fee earners
• Liaise with third party agents and correspondent law firms
• Manage and maintain trade mark prosecution and dispute files on WebTMS
• Perform general portfolio maintenance, including updating registered addresses, noting inconsistencies, assisting with office actions and amendments to specifications, assisting with recording assignments, and completing and filing forms
• Take responsibility for all aspects of renewal and maintenance deadlines, including liaising with clients, fee earners and overseas agents
• Assist with preparing forms and evidence for oppositions and cancellation actions
• Carry out trade mark searches and produce search reports
• Receive incoming and outgoing correspondence and docket deadlines and key information
• Work closely with the legal team to develop, implement and maintain docketing processes
• Correspond with clients and overseas attorneys in respect of upcoming deadlines
• Assist team with on-boarding of new client trade mark portfolios
• Generate reporting letters to clients and assist legal team with providing updates to clients
• Review trade mark watch notices and assist fee earners with reports for clients
• Research into client and/or third-party IP rights and provide reports to fee earners
• Draft bundles to accompany instructions to counsel and update hard copy correspondence bundles for litigation
• Liaise with support teams, such as the Library team for press searches
• Assist with IP due diligence exercises
• Assist with client set-up/administration and financial management, including assistance with billing and disbursements
