Court of Protection Paralegal at Penningtons Manches Cooper

The role

Penningtons Manches Cooper is seeking a Court of Protection Paralegal in Basingstoke to manage the day to day affairs of deputyship clients. The role covers deputyship applications, budgets, benefits and property matters in line with OPG Deputyship Standards.

What you'll do

Manage clients' affairs on a day-to-day basis
Act as a primary point of contact for clients
Ensure compliance with the OPG Deputyship Standards
Undertake discrete tasks as directed by senior team members
Assist with Court of Protection Deputyship applications and notifications
Assist with Deputyship order implementation
Prepare annual review documents for review by senior team members and follow up actions
Ensure correct benefits and statutory funding are received
Arrange all insurance policies
Liaise with external Case Managers to discuss care and therapy requirements
Draft employment documentation with supervision
Draft annual budgets for approval, update them as required, and collaborate with other team members to ensure sufficient funds are available
Review and consider the use of funds for a Support Worker (Money Care) account
Authorise invoices for payment
Set up utilities for properties
Deal with routine property maintenance and insurance requirements
Complete VAT Exemption forms and obtain invoices for payment
Draft letters to external agencies and companies
Obtain quotations from suppliers with supervision
Assist with orders for equipment
Complete discrete pieces of work as directed
Assist with online payments as necessary
Undertake tasks as an "Authoriser" or "Inputter" on payment systems
