IP Paralegal

The role

Baker McKenzie is seeking an IP Paralegal to support its IP practice in Belfast, United Kingdom. This role is for a paralegal with a global mindset, focusing on IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work for major clients.

What you'll do

• Handle technical trade mark formalities globally, including pre-registration, prosecution, maintenance, renewal, and post-registration steps
• Manage complex operational or technical issues and seek guidance when required
• Prepare client emails reporting on trade mark registration process stages
• Support global IP M&A matters, including recordal of assignments, licenses, security interests, and changes of name and address
• Draft legal documents for IP M&A matters
• Liaise with local counsel for IP M&A matters
• Produce schedules for IP M&A matters
• Communicate with internal stakeholders for IP M&A matters
• Arrange for the execution of documents for IP M&A matters
• Conduct comprehensive IP asset due diligence using online registries and screening platforms
• Audit data from local associates, commercial databases, and other parties
• Support global anti-counterfeiting programs
• Draft product guides for anti-counterfeiting programs
• Handle seizure notifications for anti-counterfeiting programs
• Handle and coordinate AFA filings for anti-counterfeiting programs
• Liaise with infringers
• Conduct trade mark availability screening searches using external platforms
• Draft high-quality search reports
• Perform trade mark watching services using external platforms
• Report trade mark watching results to clients
• Develop legal knowledge and expertise to provide high levels of support
• Liaise with IPSU and Global teams to understand and follow correct procedures
• Implement and maintain established processes
• Meet agreed service delivery standards
• Provide accurate, high-quality service
• Manage workload and deadlines
• Assist with docket and deadline management
• Assist with other trade mark related tasks as required
• Proactively inform manager and colleagues if deadlines and workload cannot be met
• Comply with all Firm procedures and standards
