Competition/Litigation Lawyer (2-6 PQE)

The role

Arnold Bloch Leibler is seeking a Competition/Litigation Lawyer with 2-6 years of PQE to join their Melbourne or Sydney office. This role is for a commercially minded lawyer with strong litigation fundamentals who is interested in developing a practice across competition, consumer, regulatory, and intellectual property law, working directly with clients and partners on significant matters.

What you'll do

• Respond to ACCC investigations or preparing for complex litigation
• Advise on a significant acquisition, an advertising campaign, a product recall, intellectual property disputes or an emerging compliance issue
• Deal with multiple regulators including ACCC, ASIC and ACMA
• Act in complex commercial litigation and disputes involving competitors, suppliers, franchisees, consumers and other commercial parties
• Respond to ACCC, ASIC, ACMA and other regulatory investigations and act in enforcement proceedings
• Advise on consumer law matters, including misleading or deceptive conduct, unconscionable conduct, unfair contract terms, product warranties and consumer guarantees
• Advise on the competition aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other commercial arrangements
• Assess transactions under Australia’s merger control regime, including the new mandatory merger clearance regime, and prepare notifications, submissions and supporting materials for the ACCC
• Act in ACCC investigations and enforcement proceedings involving cartel conduct, misuse of market power and other alleged anti-competitive conduct
• Act in competition and consumer law disputes, class actions and proceedings involving competitors, suppliers, franchisees and consumers
• Advise on product safety and recalls, including engagement with regulators and other participants in the supply chain
• Advise on high-profile advertising, marketing campaigns, television and online content and compliance issues
• Assist clients to develop competition and consumer law compliance programs and deliver tailored training
• Advise on advertising, marketing campaigns, online content and brand protection
• Act in trademark, copyright, patent and other intellectual property disputes
