The role

Cooney Lees Morgan seeks a Senior Solicitor / Associate with 5+ years of PQE to join their Litigation & Local Government practice in Tauranga, New Zealand. This role focuses on advising a variety of clients on resource management, local government, environmental law, and public law matters.

What you'll do

Advise a broad range of clients, including local authorities, developers, businesses, and private clients, on planning and environmental matters, consent processes, governance issues, and local authority requirements
Be involved in Environment Court proceedings and other regulatory and public law matters

What we're looking for

NZ admitted solicitor with at least 5 years’ PQE

Experience in resource management, local government, environmental law, public law, regulatory law or litigation

Excellent drafting, research, and opinion-writing skills with strong attention to detail

Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to client advice

Strong relationship management skills and a commitment to exceptional client service

Resource management experience· nice to have

Experience advising local authorities, government agencies, developers or corporate clients· nice to have

Advocacy experience before councils, hearings panels, tribunals or courts· nice to have
