The role

Clayton Utz is seeking a Senior Associate with 5+ years of PQE to join their Energy & Resources practice in Melbourne. This role focuses on advising clients on complex regulatory and commercial matters within the renewable energy sector, working with Partner Susan Taylor.

What you'll do

Advise clients on complex regulatory and commercial matters directly linked to the renewable energy transformation
Undertake energy-focused commercial work, including drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs), supply agreements, connection agreements and BESS offtake agreements
Mentor junior lawyers
Project manage matters from initial stages through to completion

What we're looking for

5+ years post qualification experience

Experience in the energy sector, particularly electricity and gas markets, either in-house or in private practice

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

A strong work ethic coupled with a willingness to learn

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills

Experience across all functional levels of the energy sector (retail, distribution, transmission and generation), or capacity to build on existing experience in at least some of these sectors· nice to have
