Managing Associate, Investment Funds at Linklaters

The role

Linklaters is seeking a Managing Associate for its Investment Funds practice in Hong Kong. This role is for a lawyer with 5+ years of experience to advise on the structuring, formation, taxation, and regulation of alternative investment funds.

What you'll do

Develop a deep knowledge of relevant law
Take instructions internally and from clients
Draft creatively, clearly and accurately, making use of precedents where appropriate
Understand and digest highly complex information and present it in a way that others find simple to understand
Negotiate on behalf of the client under appropriate supervision, and lead negotiations on behalf of the client where appropriate, arguing complex technical points persuasively
Exercise judgment in making complex decisions on behalf of the client
Conduct legal research, due diligence and information management
Build client relationships, constantly seeking new business opportunities and ways to build the firm’s reputation and proactively introducing your clients to other practice areas and offices
Support and promote the firm’s strategy and contribute to the practice area’s business plan
Manage and take accountability for all aspects of client matters, delivering client service excellence and handling difficult messages with sensitivity
Gear matters to maximise profitability, monitor team productivity throughout and adjust resources as necessary, whilst looking out for the health and well-being of the team
Exercise commercial judgement to maximise profitability of matters and liaise with client with respect to invoices to ensure timely payment
Delegate to, supervise and mentor more junior members of the team and assist with the development and training of more junior members of the team
Promote a collegiate culture that respects diversity and encourages inclusion and facilitates collaboration with other practices and teams
Communicate promptly, positively and regularly to ensure your team feel informed and connected
Influence diverse stakeholders to gain commitment and support
