Associate - Litigation (Miami)

The role

DLA Piper is seeking an Associate with 4+ years of litigation experience for their Miami office. This role is part of the Business and Commercial subgroup within the Litigation practice group, focusing on managing cases from inception to resolution.

What you'll do

• Assist in managing a variety of cases from inception to resolution, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and preparing for trials or settlements
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing them with regular updates and addressing their concerns promptly and professionally
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft well-reasoned legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence
• Work collaboratively with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes for clients
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations, keeping up-to-date with changes in laws and legal precedents
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your legal skills and knowledge
• Engage in pro bono work by providing legal assistance to underserved and underrepresented communities ensuring access to justice for all individuals
• Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
• Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
• Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
• Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
• Foster positive work relationships
• Comply with all firm policies and practices
• Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
• Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned
