The role
Simmons & Simmons is seeking a Supervising or Managing Associate with 6-10 years of PQE to join its ENRIC (Energy, Natural Resources, Infrastructure & Construction) practice in London/Bristol. This role will focus on complex domestic and cross-border transactions within the energy and infrastructure sectors, including M&A, joint ventures, and project development.
What you'll do
- Work closely with partners and clients on a broad range of matters
- Advise major energy companies, infrastructure investors, private equity funds, project sponsors and developers on strategic investments, acquisitions, disposals, joint venture arrangements and the development of large-scale energy and infrastructure assets
- Lead substantial workstreams
- Manage client relationships
- Supervise junior lawyers
- Contribute to business development initiatives across the wider ENRIC sector
What we're looking for
Approximately 6-10 years' PQE gained at a leading energy, projects, corporate or infrastructure practice
Strong experience advising on M&A transactions within the energy sector
Significant experience of drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements and related commercial arrangements
Experience supporting the development, acquisition, financing or operation of energy and infrastructure projects
A solid understanding of the Oil & Gas sector, including upstream, midstream, LNG, storage or wider hydrocarbons-related projects
Experience managing transactions and leading core workstreams with appropriate supervision
Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
Excellent technical drafting ability combined with a commercial and pragmatic approach
An interest in business development, client relationship management and contributing to the continued growth of the ENRIC sector
A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring and developing junior lawyers
Exposure to mining & metals and renewable energy and energy transition projects would be advantageous but is not essential· nice to have
