The role
Reed Smith is seeking a mid-level to senior-level Associate to join its Emerging Technologies practice in San Francisco. The role focuses on data privacy, technology transactions, and digital media and advertising.
What you'll do
- Work independently on complex privacy projects and investigations
- Engage in significant client contact
- Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
- Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s privacy and data protection practice
What we're looking for
3+ years of experience in emerging technologies, data privacy, and/or advertising and marketing
Specific experience in privacy and product compliance and counseling
Specific experience in tech transactions
Specific experience in data transactions
Specific experience in contract drafting and negotiation
Specific experience in AdTech
Specific experience in digital media and advertising transactions
Specific experience in data breach counseling
Active member of the California State Bar
Familiarity with digital advertising technology and AI-related legal and regulatory matters
Strong project management skills
Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
Experience developing internal data protection programs· nice to have
Experience conducting privacy assessments and building out data maps· nice to have
Experience performing data protection impact assessments· nice to have
Experience drafting privacy policies· nice to have
Experience negotiating data processing agreements· nice to have
Experience managing data incident response· nice to have
Experience advising on cutting-edge or high-risk privacy issues, like AI, AdTech, health data, biometric data, and/or kids and teen data· nice to have
