Associate, Commercial/Technology Contracts at Eversheds Sutherland

The role

Eversheds Sutherland is seeking a Commercial/Technology Contracts Associate with 2-6 years of PQE to join their Technology practice in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This role focuses on advising on a wide range of commercial and strategic contracts for clients across various sectors.

What you'll do

Advise on a wide range of matters from high value, long term strategic arrangements to more day-to-day business-as-usual matters and standard form contracts
Work with a wide range of private and public sector businesses across a wide range of sectors such as transport, utilities and industrial engineering on a local, national and international level
Provide commercial support for transactions undertaken by corporate and real estate teams
Develop close working relationships with colleagues in different teams and offices throughout the business both nationally and internationally
Learn from different partners
Participate in and contribute to structured business development activity
Assist to write client briefings/articles

What we're looking for

2-6 years PQE

Solid foundation in contract law in private practice

Detailed knowledge of different types of contract

Strong technical and drafting skills

Understanding of key legal, commercial and operational issues impacting clients and their contracts

Understanding of specialist support needed for a contract (e.g. TUPE, data protection, competition law)

Strong analytical skills

Attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and with clients

Ability to build strong relationships

Enjoy business development activities

Ability to deal with competing demands of clients and work flexibly to tight deadlines

Delivery of excellent client service

Drive, enthusiasm and ability to work well as part of a team

Strong research skills

Familiarity with the use of precedents and external legal resources

Ability to build relationships with colleagues

Good networking skills

Ability to build client relationships and develop new relationships

Commercially aware and willing to participate in group training and know how

Experience supporting junior colleagues· nice to have

For Senior Associate level, ability to coach, supervise and mentor junior members of the team· nice to have

For Senior Associate level, proactive participation in Business Development and assisting Partners with client development opportunities and networking· nice to have
