Lawyer, Financial Services Regulation

The role

Gilbert + Tobin is seeking a Lawyer with 2-5 years of PQE to join its Financial Services Regulation team in Sydney. This role will focus on regulatory advisory, investigations, transactions, and reform within the financial services sector.

What you'll do

• Advise on core regulatory matters including AFSL/ACL licensing, Chapter 7 obligations, DDO and breach reporting
• Advise on consumer law, claims handling and unfair contract terms
• Advise on APRA authorisation and prudential regulation
• Advise on FAR / BEAR implementation and governance frameworks
• Advise on executive accountability, remuneration and consequence management
• Act on internal and regulatory investigations involving director and senior executive conduct and accountability
• Provide strategic advice on ASIC and APRA enforcement matters and supervisory engagement
• Support internal investigations, remediation programs and regulator interactions
• Design and uplift compliance frameworks, policies and controls
• Advise on large-scale regulatory change and remediation programs
• Advise on payments reform, AML/CTF, privacy and digital regulation
• Advise on regulatory reform and implementation
• Advise on financial services regulatory aspects of M&A, capital raisings and corporate transactions
• Provide regulatory due diligence, structuring and post-acquisition integration
• Advise fintechs and payment providers navigating the evolving regulatory perimeter
• Advise on emerging areas including digital assets and payments regulation
