The role

This role is for an experienced Front End Construction Lawyer with 6+ years of PQE to join Ashurst Perkins Coie in Perth. The position involves advising on front-end construction, procurement, and major project contracts within the energy, resources, infrastructure, or construction sectors.

What we're looking for

Minimum of 6 years' experience

Demonstrated experience advising on front-end construction, procurement and major project contracts within the energy, resources, infrastructure or construction sectors

Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial, procurement, engineering, construction and services agreements

Proven ability to support contracting and procurement functions on a high volume of commercial transactions across multiple business units and project streams

Experience advising on procurement strategies, tender processes, contract risk allocation and contractor engagement models

Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance legal risk, commercial objectives and operational requirements

Experience advising on post-award contract management issues, including contract interpretation, variations, claims management and dispute avoidance strategies

Ability to provide strategic legal advice on contractual disputes, settlement negotiations and commercial resolution pathways

Experience supporting major capital projects, including LNG, offshore and onshore construction, drilling, exploration, decommissioning and energy transition projects

Experience working collaboratively with procurement specialists, contract managers, project teams and senior business stakeholders

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk against business and project objectives

Confident operating autonomously while managing competing demands and deadlines

Pragmatic and solutions-focused with a commitment to supporting project delivery and business outcomes

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across procurement, legal, commercial and operational teams

Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise and commercially relevant advice

Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and high-pressure project environment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgement

Current Australian practising certificate
