The role

This is a Real Estate Lawyer role for the Ashurst Perkins Coie's Reach Legal Consultant platform in Melbourne, Australia. It is for a lawyer with 5+ years of experience in transactional real estate.

What you'll do

Advise on a broad range of property and construction law matters
Draft, review and negotiate leases, licences, easements and other property-related agreements
Advise on complex property transactions and land use matters relating to public infrastructure, education assets and government-owned land
Support property development and infrastructure projects, including site feasibility assessments, title reviews, due diligence processes and land acquisition matters
Identify legal risks associated with property ownership, development and occupation
Provide legal advice on leasing and licensing arrangements involving public assets and third-party occupiers
Provide legal advice on property disputes, land access issues and related regulatory matters
Prepare agreements, licences, advice notes and other property documentation
Support government agencies, project teams, school leadership, operational stakeholders and third-party organisations
Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior lawyers and team members

What we're looking for

5+ years of transactional real estate law experience

Demonstrated experience advising on a broad range of property and construction law matters

Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, licences, easements and other property-related agreements

Proven ability to advise on complex property transactions and land use matters

Experience supporting property development and infrastructure projects

Strong understanding of land title issues

Understanding of planning, land use and property development frameworks

Experience providing legal advice on leasing and licensing arrangements

Familiarity with compulsory acquisition processes, native title matters and Aboriginal cultural heritage considerations

Ability to provide strategic, practical and risk-based legal advice on property disputes, land access issues and related regulatory matters

Strong legal drafting skills

Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills

Ability to supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior lawyers and team members

Current Australian practising certificate

Right to live and work in Australia
