Casualty Senior Solicitor at Weightmans

The role

Weightmans is seeking a Casualty Senior Solicitor with 4+ years of PQE to join its Insurance and Litigation practice in Glasgow. This role will focus on defending claims within the defender insurance team, handling a varied caseload of EL/PL claims, Motor, and Disease matters.

What you'll do

Handle predominantly PI cases including EL, PL and Disease and Motor
Liaise with clients, opponents, the Scottish Court, witnesses and undertake own liability investigations
Assist with supervision and development of junior fee earners
Complete MI procedures as and when required
Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to
Comply with relevant policies and procedures
Work in accordance with Weightmans' values
Assist the Partners with their cases, client development, client training, networking and potentially public speaking where required
Assist with supervision and development of junior handlers

What we're looking for

4 years PQE

Previous experience at managing the defence of EL/PL casualty claims is essential

Experience of handling own caseload

Good influencing skills

Good communication skills

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal and team working skills

Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

Flexible approach to work and a willingness to travel

Previous experience at managing the defence of motor/fraud/disease claims is desirable· nice to have

Excellent knowledge of Court of Session and Sheriff Court procedure preferable· nice to have

Opportunity for exposure to regulatory misconduct matters, HSE investigations, fatal accident inquiries and professional indemnity claims· nice to have
