Banking and Finance Senior Associate at DLA Piper

The role

DLA Piper is seeking a Banking and Finance Senior Associate with 4-7 years of PQE to join their Manchester office. This role focuses on supporting the Asset Based Lending team within the Global Finance Group and offers exposure to a wide range of finance transactions.

What you'll do

Work on a broad range of Finance transactions with an emphasis and focus on ABL but with opportunities to also work on leveraged finance, corporate finance for PLC borrowers, real estate finance and general banking work
Represent lenders and borrowers in complex ABL transactions
Advise regularly on cross border mandates alongside DLA Piper colleagues in other offices
Draft a wide range of Finance Documents, including credit agreements, intercreditor agreements and security documents
Engage in business development activities locally and in London and contributing to client growth
Supervise junior associates

What we're looking for

Solicitor qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction with at least 2 years' experience working in the English market if the latter applies

Experienced finance lawyer with prior exposure to ABL and an interest in developing an ABL practice

Strong technical skills in finance work and comfortable with the technical/legal aspects of common ABL structures

International awareness and focus to their work

Comfortable acting as the 'lead lawyer' in a transaction team, taking responsibility for key documents, reporting to the matter partner and supervising junior associates

Good financial hygiene on transactions and understanding their role in winning and delivering profitable work

Willing to work in areas of Finance outside of ABL and/or outside of their direct experience

Commercially astute and stay current on key legal and business news

Excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working

Ability to provide a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and respond effectively to requests from internal and external clients

Ability to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment

Ability to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally

Keen to get involved in business development

Compliance with professional standards and all relevant regulatory obligations

Compliance with the firm's systems, policies and procedures in all matters, including compliance, financial systems and time recording

Ability to maintain a controlled, objective and flexible approach under pressure

Proactive and innovative approach

Experience of multi-jurisdictional transactions would be preferable· nice to have
