Legal consultant (interim) – 4-8 PQE - shipping lawyer - Dubai at A&O Shearman

The role

A&O Shearman is seeking an interim Legal Consultant with 4-8 years of PQE in Shipping law to join their Peerpoint platform. This role will be based in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, supporting an International Manufacturing company in the UAE.

What you'll do

Manage a diverse range of maritime contracts, including buying and selling of shipping vessels, shipping services agreements, crew management agreements, concession agreements and port services agreements

What we're looking for

4-8 years' top-tier post-qualification experience in Shipping

Minimum of four years' post-qualification experience at a law firm ranked as top tier for Shipping work

A practising certificate (or equivalent) which entitles them to practise as a lawyer in the region

A consultant mindset, including a highly professional, flexible and adaptable outlook and approach

A desire to take ownership of their career and be responsible for their own professional development and network

Researched the personal and financial factors that you need to consider when commencing a career as a legal consultant and be comfortable with the ways in which it differs from permanent employment

Recent in-house legal experience within a shipping/maritime environment· nice to have

Experience in the Middle East· nice to have

Fluency in Arabic· nice to have
