Senior Associate - Planning & Environment at Maddocks

The role

Maddocks is seeking a Senior Associate for their Planning & Environment practice in Sydney. This role is for an experienced lawyer with 4+ years of PQE who will focus on litigious and advisory environmental, planning, and regulatory matters for public and private clients.

What you'll do

Draft advice on Federal and State environmental regulation, planning and approval processes, contaminated land, and statutory processes
Draft contracts related to environmental and planning matters, such as voluntary planning agreements, waste contracts and contracts relating to contaminated land
Conduct legal research to support advisory and transactional work
Stay abreast of regulatory developments
Conduct due diligence on environmental and statutory processes
Work on both litigious and advisory environmental, planning and regulatory matters

What we're looking for

4+ years PQE doing similar work or a legal background and keen to return to private practice

Excellent technical and drafting skills

Strong people & analytical skills and excellent communication

An enquiring mind as well as possessing sound judgement and a can-do attitude

A commitment to team work and achieving challenging objectives

Strong academic qualifications

Legally permitted to work in Australia
