Lateral Associate – Energy Transactions, Regulatory, and Data Centers (DC)

The role

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Washington D.C. office is seeking a Lateral Associate with 4-6 years of experience to join its Chambers-ranked energy regulatory practice, focusing on data center energy matters and broader energy regulatory and transactional issues.

What you'll do

• Negotiate power supply and infrastructure transactions
• Draft pleadings and briefs
• Policy-oriented advocacy
• Settlement and contract negotiation
• Work with experts to prepare testimony
• Conduct administrative hearings
• Provide regulatory support to M&A, real estate, private equity and project finance transactions
• Compliance counseling
• Strategic advising
• Work with our market-leading data center energy team
• Serve as a member of our broad-based energy regulatory practice
• Represent clients on a broad range of energy regulatory and transactional matters
• Negotiate data center power supply
• Obtain regulatory authorizations
• Handle administrative litigation before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state utility commissions
• Work on energy project development
• Provide regulatory counseling for energy transactions
• Handle appellate litigation before federal and state courts
• Interface with regional transmission organizations (RTOs)
• Work on large energy infrastructure projects such as data centers, renewable, thermal and nuclear power generation, power transmission, oil and natural gas pipelines, and liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminals
• Make the most of in-office time by meeting face-to-face with colleagues
