The role

Sparke Helmore is seeking a Senior Associate to Special Counsel with 4+ years of PQE for their Employment & Safety practice in Newcastle or Sydney. This role involves advising public and private sector clients on complex workplace matters, including safety incidents, investigations, and strategic risk management, working with partners Catherine Wilkinson and Emma Gruschka.

What you'll do

Advise public and private sector clients on complex workplace matters, including safety incidents, investigations, prosecutions, inquests and strategic workplace risk management
Take the lead on significant litigation and regulatory matters
Engage directly with clients
Mentor junior lawyers
Contribute to team growth
Strengthen trusted client relationships

What we're looking for

4+ years PQE lawyer experience

Strong background in employment, workplace relations, and/or work health and safety law

Proven ability to independently manage complex matters, including litigation, investigations, prosecutions and regulatory engagements

Collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring junior lawyers, building client relationships and taking ownership of outcomes
